Occidental and Graton volunteer firefighters respond to a vegetation fire / Sashwa Burrous / 2020
“Mutual aid is the future of humanity and no one embodies it better than volunteer firefighters. As natural disasters become more common, widespread, and destructive, their core ethos of ‘neighbors helping neighbors’ holds; they’ve just expanded the geographic range of what it means to be a neighbor.”
— Jacqui Jorgeson, Founder Volunteer Fire Foundation
